Dante followed suit, the action the only one we could take in the presence of such glory.

This was her pure angelic side, one she had yet to fully awaken. She’d lost it in Purgatory, but why was it now here?

“Cole,” she said, dipping her chin as she addressed the demon. “Bring them to me.”

His tail lashed around his ankles as he grinned. “As you wish.” He came to me first, dragging me across the stone to her feet. “Bow to your goddess.”

I couldn’t look away from her. I couldn’t move.

All I wanted to do was worship her, because a goddess she was. Glorious and perfect in every way. I dared a touch to her naked feet, pleased by the small shiver I elicited when I ran my touch up her thigh. “Lily,” I said, her name a reverent prayer on my lips. “What do you want with us?”

Her brilliant gaze matched mine, hunger flaring to life before shifting to Cole, then to Dante who the demon brought to my side.

“I want to see how you resolve your sins,” she said, her tongue flashing out over her lower lip as she glanced at the Hunter. “I want to help you learn the right way to do it.”
